Today the firm is led by attorneys Christine Yeo and Jill Kim, who focus only on bankruptcy and continue the practice’s commitment to careful planning, transparent fees, and personalized counsel.
Our history
Founded by Steven B. Lever
Steven B. Lever earned his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1988 and his Juris Doctor from McGeorge School of Law in 1991. He founded the firm in 1995 and practiced bankruptcy law for more than three decades, building the careful, repeatable processes the firm still uses today. Early in his career he recognized that many clients’ debt problems were rooted in, or worsened by, a lack of financial planning, so he studied Personal Financial Planning at the University of California, Irvine, completing the program in 2003, and began pairing customized financial plans with the legal work. That combination became the firm’s distinctive financial-planning approach. In June 2022 he sold the practice to One Law Corporation, with Christine Yeo and Jill Kim taking on all new clients. He is no longer a principal of the firm, but he continues to work with it as Of Counsel.
The firm’s mission has not changed: deliver insightful, ethical, and affordable bankruptcy counsel – and pair every case with practical financial planning so that clients leave bankruptcy with a real plan, not just a discharge order.

Anna Kumar – Intake Coordinator
Anna brings five-plus years of experience as the firm’s Intake Coordinator. She’s the first person most prospective clients meet – listening carefully, asking the right questions, and pairing each client’s situation to the right attorney and the right plan. Many clients single Anna out by name in their reviews; her steady, warm professionalism is a big part of why the firm’s intake experience is something we’re proud of.
Outside the firm, Anna is raising two young children and has even run for public office in her community.
